Trauma Therapy with EMDR and NARM
Behind many of the struggles people come to us for, including drug and alcohol use, is some form of trauma. We specialize in trauma resolution with EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which helps the brain reprocess distressing memories, and NARM (the NeuroAffective Relational Model), which addresses complex and developmental trauma. Annie McGuire is certified in NARM.
Programs for Teens: Ascend and Aspire
Our 12-week teen programs combine a weekly group, a weekly individual session, family sessions (usually twice a month) and on-demand access to your therapist by Zoom, FaceTime or phone.
Ascend
For teens whose main struggle is substance use. Includes weekly drug testing. Groups meet Fridays, 6–8 pm.
Aspire
For teens with a primary mental health diagnosis such as anxiety or depression. Includes medication monitoring in small, closed groups.
Meet Mike and Annie McGuire
Michael McGuire, M.A., is a licensed addictions and trauma therapist who brings both professional training and his own experience in recovery. Annie McGuire, M.A., LMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor with more than a decade in behavioral health, including work as a Clinical Director. She opened her private practice in 2017 and specializes in LGBTQ+ affirming care. They met in 2018 at Gateway Community Services in Jacksonville and combined their practices to give teens, young adults and families the specialized support they often miss.
